This listing is for a nice set of
6 feet
of “NARROW/LOW”-gauge nickel-silver fret wire in handy 8-inch lengths*. Six feet is more than enough for a standard mandolin, ukelele or smaller banjo – you could probably fret two smaller instruments with this much fretwire, if you are careful. This fret wire is designated as “narrow/low” due to the narrow crown width, low crown height and shallow “tang” depth (see measurements below). This is premium nickel-silver fretwire, identical to Stewart-MacDonald’s #764, and is suitable for use in all levels of stringed instrument building and repair.
I also include a sheet of fretting “do’s and don’ts” to help the first-time fretter get started, at no extra charge! This sheet contains a lot of useful how-to, things to avoid, and advice. If you want a more in-depth guide, check out my separate fretting guide listings!

A slot width of .023″ is recommended for this fret wire, but somewhat wider may work if you use glue to set the frets in.
Be sure to measure the width, height and tang depth/width of your current frets before buying, to make sure this set will fit your intended usage! Banjos particularly use a wide range of fret sizes;

Recycled Materials…
We use recycled cardboard as packaging materials whenever possible. Those of you who care about the environment can appreciate the value of this, and everyone can appreciate the fact that it helps keep our prices lower since we don’t have to buy new cardboard for packaging. This may mean that our packaging materials occasionally show some shipping scuffs, labels, printing or other markings, but used cardboard does the job just fine. Hopefully you will find a way to recycle it on your end too!
